2008-W Platinum Eagles. Rare?
Correct me if I'm wrong but did they make less than 4000 of the uncirculated 2008-W $25 (1/4 ounce) Platinum coins??
Do these have a collectors premium or should they be treated as bullion? thanks. |

Re: 2008-W Platinum Eagles. Rare?
I myself would consider it a collectors piece but if you ask my local dealers they would say it is just bullion just like them wanting to pay $2000 for a complete 1997-2008 1/10oz ngc PF-70 set of platinum eagles ranked #3 in the registry. All my local dealers are Thieves they all say it is just plastic but they wont take the set if i cracked them out. But the ms69 in there case is very rare when you are buying.:36_1_28::36_1_30:

Re: 2008-W Platinum Eagles. Rare?
Do you have a few years? I would hold it. There is a good chance the mint is done w/ platinum coins. The problems are that right now platinum eagles are not a very popular series, and low-mintage plat. issues are a crowded field.
